Jess was a boxing promoter whose achievements included co-promoting a bout in 1915 between Jess Willard and Jack Johnson. In 1926, while working with Tex Rickard , he started promoting boxing in Madison Square Garden in New York. They started an association that went on to be a very famous organization. Jess died and his son was brought in to replace him. Now, Jess' son and his family OWN the association. This association, got into a name fight with a famous NGO and thus they had to rename themselves,
